HPD Officers Bring Holiday Cheer With ‘Shop With a Cop’

Shop With a Cop

Thirteen young good citizens were treated to a day of shopping, food, fun and quality time with officers at the Hilliard Division of Police’s Shop with A Cop event.

The 5th annual event was held Dec. 14. The morning began with each child being picked up at home by a police officer in a police cruiser. Then, each duo paired with a volunteer from the Hilliard Citizens Police Academy (CPA) for one to two hours to shop at Target.

After the shopping was done, the children were brought back to the police station for pictures with Santa, a pizza lunch, popcorn, other sweet treats and Christmas movies. Meanwhile, the CPA “elves” wrapped the gifts.

This event is funded by personal donations from the Hilliard Division of Police. Additionally, Target provided discounted merchandise, and lunch was donated by Jet’s Pizza, Texas Roadhouse and Fazoli’s

Hilliard City Schools assisted HPD with selecting the deserving children.
