The holiday season will be a little more magical for children in Hilliard.
More than 400 toys, including electronic key boards, stuffed animals, and dolls, will be gifted to Hilliard children this holiday season thanks to a donation by the City of Hilliard Division of Police.
HPD secured the toys by partnering with CSX rail line and First Responders Children’s Foundation on the organization’s annual Toy Express program. The program helps first responders bring holiday cheer to children of first responders and their communities.
The toys were provided to the Hilliard Food Pantry, which will distribute them to local families later this month.
“Often times, our jobs require us to see kids during different, challenging circumstances,” said Community Relations Officer Mike Deaton, who oversaw the project. “This is our chance to ensure every child feels included. It’s what the holidays are all about.”
HPD was one of 70 law enforcement agencies nationwide selected for the program, which is available in communities that have CSX rail lines.
“Increasing awareness about police programs, while spreading holiday joy for children in the communities we operate, is just another way CSX Special Agents work alongside FRCF to support this important event and strengthen police-community relationships,” a CSX Police spokesperson said.
