The City of Hilliard has hired Jennifer Kahle as its new Director of Finance. Her first day with the City will be Monday, July 17.

Kahle most recently has served as Finance Director for the City of Piqua. Prior to that, she was Chief Financial Officer for the Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton, Financial Manager/CFO for the State of Ohio Board of Nursing, and Budget and Management Analyst for the State of Ohio Office of Budget and Management.

โ€œThe Director of Finance is one of the most crucial positions within the City of Hilliard,โ€ said City Manager Michelle Crandall. โ€œSo, we knew we needed to find not only a talented and experienced finance professional but someone who epitomizes the Cityโ€™s values of โ€˜Heart for Service, Strength in Teamwork, and Drive for Excellence.โ€™ Jenniferโ€™s diverse background and education, along with her leadership approach, made her to a strong choice to lead the Finance Department into the future.โ€

Kahle will lead the seven-member department and report to the City Manager. The Director of Finance position serves as the Cityโ€™s chief fiscal officer and oversees the collection, custody, and disbursement of public funds, payroll, and income tax; maintains municipal accounting records; manages and provides advice on investments; signs all bond issues; and leads both the operating and capital budget development process.

โ€œJenniferโ€™s work will play an important role in maintaining the City of Hilliardโ€™s existing Aaa bond rating from Moodyโ€™s Investorโ€™s Services,โ€ Crandall said. โ€œWe have worked hard as a City to achieve this rating, which is the highest Moodyโ€™s offers, as it plays a key role in the kinds of interest rates we receive for borrowing money and selling bonds for capital projects like the future Recreation and Wellness Campus.โ€

Kahle has both a Master in Public Administration Degree and a Master in Business Administration Degree from Franklin University. She also has a Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Financial Management from Franklin University, and an Associate Degree in Agricultural Business from The Ohio State University.
