New Community Mural to be Unveiled Sunday

The Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center was selected as the site of a new community mural, created by artist Mandi Caskey, Hilliard City Schools teacher Amanda Schaeffer and her Art and Ecology students. The mural came about through an Ohio Arts Council (HAC) grant written by Amanda to engage students in art beyond their classroom. This mural is truly a community mural as it has also involved the City of Hilliard through the Hilliard Public Arts Commission, and the maintenance department of Hilliard who will be installing the work. The Hilliard Arts Council provided funding for the wood base, paint, and brushes for the work. Community involvement also includes Sherwin Williams who gave a deep discount for paint and supplies.

Please join us on the Hilliard Arts Council’s Facebook page for a virtual unveiling event on Sunday, May 3 at noon. The mural has also evolved into a virtual display of the student’s work that can be found here.
