Hilliard 311 is a service that allows residents to submit service requests from a computer, smartphone or tablet. Those who prefer calling can reach Hilliard 311 at (614) 876-7361.
All concerns are automatically converted to work requests and routed to the Operations Department. Users can attach a photo and notes with their requests, as well as track the status and view comments from the City in response to their request.
For longer and thicker branches and brush, the City offers an on-demand chipper service. Residents can complete a service request for the City chipper crew to come to their house on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. 2024 dates of service are April 12, April 26, May 10, May 24, June 14, June 28, July 12, July 26, Aug. 9, Aug. 23, Sept. 13, Sept. 27, Oct. 11.
Scheduling chipper service allows the City to offer residents this amenity more cost-effectively than having crews drive throughout the entire community each week to seek out branches piled at the curb.
Before placing a service request, residents should place their large limbs and brush (more than 4-feet long and 4-inches in diameter) in the tree lawn near the curb. Do not include vines, thorns, root balls, grass of any kind, and foreign materials such as metal, lumber, nails, wire, string, rope, or staples in chipper piles.
This service is great for storm damage and resident landscaping needs. Those with excessive amounts or who are unable to wait for their scheduled pick up should make other arrangements. (We recommend dropping off at Ohio Mulch or Kurtz Bros. Mulch and Soil). Commercial companies hired to cut down trees or clear areas are solely responsible for removal.
Curbside leaf collection begins in October. Residents should rake leaves to the curb area (between the sidewalk and street) by 7:00AM on the Monday of their scheduled pickup week.
Crews will collect leaves placed at the curb during scheduled times by neighborhood zones (listed below). The quadrant map can be found here.
Residents can also bag leaves in biodegradable brown paper bags for standard weekly curbside yard waste pickup.

Leaves may cause temporary discoloration to your grass. However, the grass will grow back rich and green in the spring. To prevent grass from discoloring, rake your leaves immediately before your scheduled pickup date.
After the leaf collection period ends, leaves are to be placed in biodegradable paper yard waste bags or in a trash bin designated for yard waste only. The bags or bins should weigh no more than 50 pounds each when filled, and will be collected as part of the normal curbside-composting program every Tuesday. Bagged leaf collection is provided by Local Waste Services until November 30th.
We use various tools, including salt brine and plowing, to manage ice and snow on city streets. If you see snow equipment on the roads, please give them the right of way and stay at least 100 feet back. We will clear all city streets, starting with major thoroughfares.
We schedule street sweeping to maintain roads, improve storm sewer system efficiency and keep Hilliard looking beautiful. Street sweepers typically run Monday – Friday from 7:00AM to 3:30PM on scheduled days.
Residents should move their cars on street sweeping days and avoid sweeping materials, including leaves, into the streets. You can collect leaves to be picked up by the city’s yard waste or leaf collection programs.
The Operations Department performs periodic and frequent street sweeping throughout all residential and commercial areas of the City. Street sweeping beautifies Hilliard’s streets, gateways, parks, and community by removing unsightly litter and debris. Routine street sweeping reduces the amount of flooding during heavy rainfall and increases operational efficiency of the City’s storm sewer system. Street sweeping also protects the environment by significantly reducing the amount of pollutants entering the City’s storm sewer system.
Grass clippings, leaves, twigs, branches, shrubbery, and other yard waste are collected weekly for Hilliard residents. Organic waste should be placed in brown paper bags or rigid containers clearly labeled with yard waste stickers, which are available at the Hilliard Municipal Building (3800 Municipal Way).
Please cut branches to less than 4 feet in length and tie them into bundles with string or twine. Each container, bag, or bundle must weigh less than 50 pounds and be free of rocks, dirt, and plastic bags.
On Nov. 2, 2021, Hilliard residents approved Issue 22, an additional 0.5% municipal income tax, paid by individuals who work in the City of Hilliard corporate boundaries (regardless of whether they live here).
The additional revenue has been dedicated for recreation and parks, including design, construction, and operation of a new community center comparable (The Well), trail and park acquisition, programming, athletic field facility, and more.
The 105,000-square-foot Recreation and Wellness campus will include a gymnasium, indoor running track, fitness and weight room, aerobic dance and spin studios, classrooms, a 240-person community events room, commercial kitchen, child watch area, outdoor patio, and an aquatic facility that includes a lap pool, recreation activity pool, water slide, and spa.
Nearly 25,000 square feet of space within The Well will be dedicated to an integrated medical health and wellness center managed by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The center will offer rehabilitation and physical therapy.
