Hilliard residents rated the vibrancy of their downtown and commercial districts much higher than how residents of other communities across the country say they feel about their own cities.
This was among the results of the 2022 National Cities Survey, a community perception survey performed in September and October for the City of Hilliard by polling and research firm Polco. Nearly 500 residents from a pool of 2,800 randomly selected households responded to the online and mailed survey.
When asked to rate the vibrancy of the downtown/commercial area, residents gave more positive responses than residents in 91 percent of other communities nationwide.
“Word is spreading about what Downtown Hilliard has to offer visitors, businesses, and residents,” said Angela Zody, the City’s Downtown Manager. “We’re excited about the vibrancy in the area, thanks to the investment of both City resources and private businesses. The best is yet to come!”
The district is anchored by Hilliard’s Station Park. With interactive splash fountains for the kids, outdoor café tables, an amphitheater and public restrooms, Hilliard’s Station Park is the perfect home for community events, such as the Celebration at the Station summer free summer concert series.
The park, transformed from an old train station and surrounded by dining, beverages, and shopping venues, marks the trailhead of the 7-mile Heritage Rail Trail — making it an ideal destination for pedestrians and bicyclists.
The City’s daily Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) also makes it convenient to enjoy dinner, shopping, and adult beverages throughout the district.
