New Disc Golf Course Opens at Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park

An 18-hole disc golf course is now open at Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park in Hilliard.

While the course is a partnership between the City and the Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club, it was Dean Barbo, Hilliard resident and Vice President of the Columbus Flyers, who started the process with a vision.

In 2019 the City began the process of transforming the existing 9-holes into a strategically designed 18-hole course by working with Barbo, City staff, and volunteers with Columbus Flyers. After many revisions, a unique master layout that will appeal to all skill levels was determined.

“As a resident and avid disc golfer, it was important for me to get involved in the planning phase of Hilliard’s first 18-hole course, said Barbo. “I’m excited to finally see it finished and open to the public.”

Concrete tee pads were poured in spring 2020, and volunteers and City staff added collars and baskets over the summer. The final phase of the project which include course signs and a master map was completed in late Sept.

The new course adds opportunities for tournaments and new visitors to Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park, said Director of Recreation and Parks Ed Merritt.

“It’s great to see a partnership like this come together. Disc golf provides a fun and inexpensive experience that people of all abilities can enjoy, and we welcome everyone to come play the course,” he said.

Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park Disc Golf Course is officially open on Oct. 1, 2020. Guests are welcome to disc golf from dawn to dusk and will need to bring their own discs. View the course map here.
